ONE-TO-ONE

TUTORING

FranCenter believes that one of the greatest gifts we can give a child is the gift of learning.  We help children from pre-school through high school improve their learning skills and self-esteem; helping them grow in knowledge and gain confidence in their ability to succeed.

Unlike franchise tutoring centers, FranCenter works with students on a one-to-one basis.   There are no contracts to sign and each program is geared to the needs of each student.

If your child is experiencing any difficulties that require additional support that may go beyond what the school can be expected to address during the normal school day, a comprehensive assessment and individual tutoring can address these issues.

TESTING

Psychological-Educational Evaluations are comprehensive assessments that evaluate a child’s cognitive and academic functioning. Tests are utilized to understand a child’s strengths and weaknesses and assist the child to perform to their optimal academic level.  Parents, schools, therapists, and/or doctors usually recommend a child have a Psychological-Educational Evaluation to better understand why the child/adolescent is struggling to reach their full potential in an academic setting.

FranCenter receives referrals from the medical community to administer The Test of Variables of Attention (T.O.V.A.) to help physicians in diagnosing ADD/ADHD.  The symptoms of ADD/ADHD are inattention, concentration, and impulsivity.

A FranCenter consultation assesses medical history, educational background, current school performance including standardized tests and report card grades, along with the presenting issues. Based upon this assessment, appropriate Psychological and Educational tests are selected to address the client’s needs.

At the conclusion of testing, a conference with parents and the psychologist is held to share results of the evaluation. Parents receive an extensive report including a narrative, all test scores, summary, and specific home and school recommendations.

If support services are recommended, FranCenter specializes in designing a program to address the student’s needs.

A quote will be provided after the initial consultation based on the referral and recommendation. Insurance is not accepted for evaluations. Families with financial need may apply for assistance.

COURSE FOR CREDIT

FranCenter works cooperatively with high schools to help students make-up coursework in all academic areas including foreign language.  The opportunity to work on a one-to-one basis at FranCenter has helped many students who have difficulty succeeding in a large classroom environment.  To ensure continuity, FranCenter uses each high school’s syllabus, text, and grading system.

ACT/SAT
PREPARATION

Working with a specialized, individual tutor, your child can directly work on his/her areas of need and also improve areas of strength.  No time is wasted in large group classes that provide general test taking information.  Additionally, FranCenter can schedule tutoring to meet the busy time demands of the high school student.

One-to-One tutoring support is provided to give your child the knowledge and confidence to know that they can reach their goal.  One hour-long weekly is scheduled approximately three months prior to your child’s testing date.  Your child’s prior testing, course grades and self-assessment are reviewed to identify strengths and weaknesses.

The Center’s staff develops a plan to:

Address the student’s individual profile

Orient your child to all aspects of the test

Manage allotted time for testing through practice test experience

Present test-taking strategies
