During the past decade, members of the FranCenter staff have devoted time to research the drug problem in this country and how to prevent substance abuse. We believe that the emphasis must be on prevention. This means parent education programs and programs for children beginning in the pre-school years are an absolute necessity. We can graduate from our schools the best math students, the best science students, the most creative art students, but if we have not taught each student to respect his/her own mind and body, of what real value was our efforts?
FranCenter's Drug Prevention Assembly Program
Focusing on self-esteem, decision making, communication and personal relationships, and how drugs affect the body and mind! (Four different assembly programs have been prepared for schools hosting this program annually.)
The FranCenter Drug Prevention Assembly Program uses a unique format to get the "Say No To Drugs" and "Get High On Life" message across to students of all ages. Music, puppetry, drum light show, original music, audience participation and mini-lectures make this program special and thought-provoking for students.
FranCenter services also include:
Staff Development
Helping teachers incorporate and coordinate drug prevention education throughout the entire school.
Parent Education
A focus on parenting skills that guide children to remain drug free. (Problem solving, cooperative discipline, self-esteem, signs of drug use, and counseling support.)
Leadership Training
Selected students receive three sessions of intensive training that will enable them to provide leadership in the school community regarding drug resistance education.
