Solving Discipline Problems - Before They Begin

Classroom management and discipline are of ongoing concerns to most teachers and administrators. They know there is a direct correlation between effective classroom discipline and effective student learning. This workshop will focus on the following.

Topics:

Discipline without using rewards and punishments

Establish a nurturing and supportive classroom environment

Help students resolve their own conflicts

Build positive relationships by reframing attitudes

Maintain a school-wide learning community that fosters academic and social responsibility

Work successfully with parents who may be defensive, resistant and argumentative

Identify potential problems before they escalate into a full-blown crisis

The purpose of this workshop is to focus on the connection between self- concept, self-responsibility, self-discipline, self-esteem and personal communication styles and their effect on motivation, social skills and the learning process. Findings from the latest brain research; how teacher¼s conversation styles affect learners; and ways to build more positive relationships in the classroom will be shared.
